The Crossed Out Collection

The city tried to erase it. Someone took a roller of orange to the NARROW DISTRICT sign: one big X, the kind you paint over something condemned. Most people walked by and took it as a no.

But the few who stopped remembered what an X means on a map. It doesn’t mean gone. It means this is the spot. The sign was never crossed out. It was marked.

To most, a no. To few, the spot.
